TAFE Gippsland and the Committee for Wellington have hosted a major industry workshop event in Wellington Shire this week to shape the future vocational skills needs of the region.
Delegates from the Committee for Wellington and invited industry and business partners discussed results from the recent community consultation process and workshopped the specific skills required in Wellington Shire as well as the future course offerings at TAFE Gippsland’s Sale campus.
TAFE Gippsland Chief Executive, Mr Grant Radford, said the informed views of industry and business will allow TAFE Gippsland to better understand the specific current and future education and training needs in the Wellington Shire.
“Past community and stakeholder forums and the advice of the Skills Commissioner have been used to compile a mix of courses and delivery options that our Institute needs to validate with the key local employer groups and our business partners,” Mr Radford said.
“We are very keen to ensure that the courses we offer, the way we deliver training and the facilities we provide, meet the diverse needs of our students, our communities, local business and industry.”
TAFE Gippsland’s current capital works projects include a brand new $25 million TAFE facility to be built in the Port of Sale by the end of 2021
