Gippsland Tech School (GTS) this week hosts an exciting three-day health-related ‘Design Challenge’ event for female students across Gippsland.
This Women in STEM Foodbytes Challenge is scheduled for 25 - 27 June 2019 and will focus on promoting healthy eating and wellbeing with 52 female students and 10 teachers representing 14 High Schools from across our Gippsland community. Students will work together to develop a project and a communication piece to raise awareness around health, nutrition and wellbeing for young people in the Latrobe Valley.
GTS Director, Paul Boys, said the challenge is “the first event of its kind across Gippsland”.
“The Women in STEM Foodbytes Challenge will showcase GTS, TAFE Gippsland, Latrobe Health Assembly, our supporting partners and the talented young women from the wider Gippsland Schools network who are interested in careers in the science and technology space,” Paul said.
“Our students will work on their challenge projects over the first two days and present them from 11.00am until 1.00pm on Thursday 27th June.”
The three-day event has been designed in collaboration with the Baw Baw Latrobe LLEN, South Gippsland and Bass Coast LLEN, East Gippsland LLEN, Latrobe Health Assembly and ‘We Are Latrobe’.
Representatives from the collaborating organisations will be attending during the event and judging will take place on Thursday 27 June at 1.00pm, with local MLC’s Harriet Shing, Melina Bath and guest judges from across Gippsland invited to take part.
