Warren Stannard with an earlier copy of the text book

No matter what you say, we think this achievement is iconic!
There aren’t too many academics that can say they have put their knowledge into motion and have authored a chapter in a textbook. But one of TAFE Gippsland’s own, Warren Stannard, can.
Before Warren started as a teacher at the Gippsland Tech School, he was involved in a research project at the University of Western Australia.
“We were evaluating ways of introducing modern concepts, ‘Einsteinian Physics’, into the secondary school curriculum,” Warren said.
Editors of the popular text book ‘Fundamentals of Physics’ by Halliday and Resnick wanted to release an Australian edition and were looking for input from Australian physicists.
Fast foreword and this is exactly what happened.
“I was asked to contribute material for the chapter on ‘Special Relativity’ and ‘Matter Waves’,” Warren said.
If your head hertz as much as ours, let’s break that down a little bit to show you how Warren is helping to make university students physics programs easier to understand.
‘The programs I developed included a range of demonstrations, animations and practical tools to help students in their understanding of what are often seen as difficult concepts in relativity and quantum physics,” Warren added.
The new textbook is due to be released at the end of this year. And if reports are correct, you will never put it down.
