A genuine interest and adoration for supporting children and young people, within an educational setting, was the backbone of Brooke Thompson’s learning journey.
Brooke has demonstrated her commitment and determination to successfully complete a Certificate III in Education Support in 2019. With her own learning needs, she has put in a lot of hard work to ensure that she achieved successful outcomes.
During placement at Warragul Specialist School, Brooke’s supervising teacher was overwhelmed with her diligence and conscientious work ethic. Her confidence has grown and allowed her to speak in front of others and openly share her own work and life experiences.
To assist with developing her communication skills, Brooke developed an AUSLAN activity and delivered it to a small group of adult learners. Her delivery included verbal and non-verbal communications to support the individual learning needs of the group; something she learned from her TAFE Gippsland training course.
Brooke has since commenced a Certificate IV in Education Support to further her skills and ensure she is job-ready. Her commitment to her studies is to be highly commended and this has consequently resulted in her award as Vocational Student of the Year for Education.
