Kevin Campbell has dedicated his working career to achieving the highest teaching standards in a very competitive Hospitality sector.
As a teacher in Hospitality and Culinary Studies and Foundation, Kevin works primarily at Leongatha but also travels regularly to other TAFE Gippsland campuses. He is very focused on delivering a quality vocational education experience to his students to enable them to succeed in this important commercial sector.
Kevin continues to work in the Hospitality industry on a casual basis, this connection with industry ensures his knowledge of the sector and its challenges are current. He then works closely with fellow teachers to customise training for individual students, and he follows and shares the latest ideas and research on food and beverage trends.
Kevin’s philosophy is to identify students’ key strengths and to build confidence in their ability, so they are ready for employment in their chosen field. He has regular meetings with local employment agencies about suitability and potential for our students to gain employment in the Hospitality industry.
His work with our Yooralla students to deliver the Community Cafes initiative to local community and local business groups has been highly acclaimed in South and West Gippsland. These popular events see Yooralla students preparing lunches and running all facets of the dining experience to prepare them for a hospitality career.
Kevin’s high standards of professionalism, his caring manner and his enthusiasm for his industry has been rewarded with a TAFE Gippsland Teacher/Trainer of the Year award for 2020.
