TAFE Gippsland’s Lisa Nathan has been doing her bit for the community during these COVID-19 times.
Lisa, Senior Student Administration Officer – Academic Registry, has been making masks for the Morwell Neighbourhood House (MNH), and these have been supplied to those less fortunate and in need for free! She said she started making the masks to give her something to do after work.
“It’s just a bit of a change from the normal routine of what’s happening at home because at the moment you can’t really do a lot,” Lisa said.
The Neighbourhood House has enjoyed broad community support with 87 volunteers, including Lisa, donating their time and skill to benefit the local community. So far the volunteers have sewn 2059 masks, with over 100 of those coming from Lisa herself.
The House volunteers are producing two types of masks after finding designs published by DHHS. One is a simple rectangular face covering which hooks onto the ears. The other is a more complicated design that fits to the contours of the face, which is what Lisa has been making.
If you know anyone that still needs a mask, they can call MNH on 5134 5488.
Congratulations on a wonderful gesture in these difficult times.
