TAFE Gippsland Agriculture student, Miranda Knight, has received an award for excellence in her studies.
The West Gippsland Trade Training Alliance (WGTTA) awarded Miranda the Outstanding Certificate III in Agriculture Trainee in the Young People’s Excellence Awards for 2020. Unfortunately, COVID-19 meant that the WGTTA awards night was postponed last year.
Miranda, who has been with our Institute from VET DSS, completed her AHC30116 Certificate III in Agriculture traineeship with TAFE Gippsland in 2020.
Miranda started her agricultural career in secondary school completing a Certificate II in Agriculture. She then moved into a traineeship and, since completing this qualification, has continued her training with TAFE Gippsland in Certificate IV in Agriculture.
Program Manager, Agriculture & Animal Sciences, Louise Underhill, said Miranda is “an outstanding student, always happy to help her peers and contribute to classroom discussions”.
“It is great to see young women achieving excellence in agriculture,” Louise said.
“Miranda is a fantastic example of someone who was unsure of her career aspirations, but with training and support from her employer and our Industry trainers, she is now well positioned to take on any agricultural role.”
Louise firmly believes Agriculture is a sector which is at the forefront of technological innovation.
“Our programs at TAFE Gippsland from Certificate II through to Diploma of Agriculture, provides a training pathway to ensure local people, work with local industry to grow Gippsland’s own Food and Fibre Industry,” Louise said.
