TAFE Gippsland’s Board of Directors is now complete with the appointment of Latrobe Valley professional, Ms Joanne Brunt.
A proud and strong Gunai woman, Ms Brunt joined TAFE Gippsland’s Board in December to bring her skills in helping TAFE Gippsland manage its strategic direction as a vocational and education training Institute of excellence and an employer of choice.
TAFE Gippsland’s Board Chair, Mr Paul Buckley, PSM, welcomed Ms Brunt’s appointment in a message to the Institute’s staff and students.
“I am delighted to advise you that Ms Joanne Brunt has been appointed to the position of Board-co-opted Director following a process overseen by TAFE Gippsland’s Board,” Mr Buckley said.
“Joanne will bring her extensive community leadership and indigenous education and employment experience to our Institute’s Board and we are delighted to welcome Jo to TAFE Gippsland.
Mr Buckley said the 10-person Board was now complete and will work closely TAFE Gippsland’s executive leadership team to “ensure TAFE Gippsland is well placed to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead in 2022 as we recover from COVID-19”.
“This year we are preparing to launch our campus redevelopment projects at Morwell, Sale and Warragul and we are excited that these facilities will offer an outstanding student experience to meet local community and industry needs,” Mr Buckley said.
“We are absolutely delighted to bring Joanne into our team, and I’m confident she will bring her extensive knowledge of our local indigenous community issues to ensure even better outcomes for our new and prospective student cohorts.”
Originally from Orbost, Ms Brunt now lives in the Latrobe Valley and has an extensive CV. Currently working with Latrobe City Council as Coordinator Employment Development, Ms Brunt works to improve indigenous employment opportunities in Gippsland in the private and public sectors.
Ms Brunt began her three-year term on 6 December 2021.
