TAFE Gippsland’s VET Delivered to Secondary School (VDSS) students will get to showcase their photographic flair at an upcoming student photography exhibition.
Now in its third year, Captured: Student Photography Competition and Exhibition will be held at Yallourn campus this year, from Wednesday 23 – 30 October.
TAFE Gippsland Visual Arts teacher Tara Little said the VDSS Certificate III in Visual Arts (Photography) students get to enter five of their best photographic pieces for display.
“This is a great opportunity for our students to show off their work and also go in the running to win some great prizes,” Tara said.
“Anyone can drop by our Yallourn campus throughout the week to have a look. It’s such a great opportunity for the students and for us at TAFE Gippsland to show our dedication to supporting arts in the Gippsland region.”
The judging panel for the competition will be a panel of professional photographers and thanks to a generous group of event sponsors, prizes include a lifetime membership to Story Art Education with Karen Alsop, vouchers from TAFE Gippsland and Ted’s Camera House.
Visitors will also have a chance to vote for their favourite photo on display and help decide the winner of the People’s Choice Award category.
“If last year is anything to go by, the judges will certainly have their work cut out for them,” Tara said.
“The students received some great feedback last year and the calibre of the entries were outstanding, so we look forward to seeing what they've produced this year."
The People’s Choice Award winner will receive a voucher from Kayell Australia.
Judges’ winners will be announced at the start of the exhibition on Wednesday 23 October at 1.00pm. People’s Choice winners will be announced on Wednesday 30 October at Yallourn campus at 9.30am. You can cast your vote for your favourite photo here.
