TAFE Gippsland’s VET Delivered to Secondary School (VDSS) students have had the opportunity to showcase their photographic flair again this year, at a special student photography exhibition held on campus.
Now in its third year, Captured: Student Photography Competition and Exhibition boasted a display of 50 images at our Yallourn campus, from Wednesday 23 – 30 October.
TAFE Gippsland Visual Arts teacher Tara Little said the VDSS Certificate III in Visual Arts (Photography) students get to enter five of their best photographic pieces for display.
“This is a great opportunity for our students to show off their work and for us at TAFE Gippsland to show our dedication to supporting arts in the Gippsland region.”
“The judging panel was made up of a panel of professional photographers and they certainly had their work cut out for them! The students received some great feedback and the winners collected some great prizes, with a lifetime membership to Karen Alsop’s Story Art Education going to the first place winner, a $500 voucher from Ted’s Camera House for second place and a $250 voucher from TAFE Gippsland for third.”
The overall winners of the judging were announced at the start of the exhibition:
1st place – Clark by Sebastian Dietrich (from Morwell)
2nd place – Maxibon by Sid Anderson (from Morwell)
3rd place – Furball by Isabella Davey (from Drouin)
Visitors also had a chance to vote for their favourite photo on display and help decide the winner of the People’s Choice Award category.
This year’s winner, Isabella Davey for Furball, who also won third place in the judge's top three, received a voucher from Kayell Australia.
Congratulations to all the winners. We can’t wait to see what artistic inspiration next year’s exhibition brings!
