TAFE Gippsland was proud to launch the Gippsland Women in Industry Network last week, to coincide with International Women’s Day.
Network organising committee members Jayne Hassett from Loy Yang B Alinta Energy, Janine Mcphee from WPC Group (ESSO), Kylie Jones from OPAL, Leah Vicino from TAFE Gippsland, Lisa Briggs AGL and Riley Graham from Energy Australia Yallourn.
In partnership with AGL Loy Yang, Loy Yang B Alinta Energy, ESSO Australia, Opal and Energy Australia, TAFE Gippsland has established the network with the aim of increasing the attraction and retention of women to non-traditional roles, while improving their workplace experience and outcomes.
TAFE Gippsland Director Educational Delivery Linda Austin said the network provided a platform that allows women to share experiences and address some of the challenges women face working in traditionally male industries.
“The aim of the network is to support women with learning and development opportunities, to support women in achieving their career goals, to provide a safe space for women to ask questions and have conversations about workplace matters and to support employers in creating more inclusive workplaces.
“Having so many women attend our launch event was brilliant to see.
“It is our hope that as a result of this network, women who start their careers in industry have a network of women behind them who help them feel included and more engaged in their workplace, their industry and careers overall.”
